What is Your Money or Your Life (YMYL)?
Your Money or Your Life (YMYL) is a search term used by Google to indicate pages that provide information related to finance, health, safety, and other topics that have the potential to affect users’ future happiness, health, financial stability or safety. YMYL pages are expected to meet a higher quality standard and contain accurate and up-to-date information to avoid misleading users.
This is because if this type of information is presented in an inaccurate, false or misleading manner, it will directly affect the user. In other words, there are many risks with this type of content, and Google expects quality raters to have higher Page Quality (PQ) standards than other types of websites. They are called YMYL pages because they can directly affect your money or life, hence the name. YMYL is how Google describes websites and content that may harm the quality of life and/or its finances.
